Rusk Claims Multiple Awards on 19-3A All-District Softball Team

Rusk took home the Most Valuable Player, Offensive MVP, and Defensive MVP awards with the release of the 19-3A all-district softball team as voted by league coaches.

Alabama-bound pitcher Sydney Littlejohn was named MVP, while senior shortstop Juliann Bowling received Offensive MVP honors. Junior catcher Kelsey Blankinship shared Defensive MVP recognition with Mexia sophomore catcher Cheyenne Thompson.

Littlejohn went 24-5 in the circle with a 0.41 earned run average and 315 strikeouts. At the plate, she hit .442 with three home runs and 28 RBIs.

Blankinship hit .361 with 26 RBIs and a .997 fielding percentage. She threw out 33 percent of base stealers. Bowling hit .344 with 17 RBIs and 22 steals.

Palestine senior Dana Whitehead was named the district's Utility Player of the Year.
