SAN AUGUSTINE -- The San Augustine Wolves scored a 34-32 victory over West Sabine in the District 10-2A Division I opener on Friday night.

Wolves quarterback Jamikel Roberts led the way for San Augustine (3-3, 1-0) by rushing for 190 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries. He also completed 6 of 14 passes for 75 yards and a touchdown.

Jeremy Jenkins added 81 yards rushing and a touchdown on 18 carries.

Roberts put San Augustine in front 6-0 with a 44-yard scoring run at the 6:02 mark of the opening quarter, but West Sabine (4-2, 0-1) scored a pair of touchdowns to take a 12-6 lead early in the second period.

That's when the Wolves took over. Roberts scored on a 55-yard run, CJ Berry returned a fumble 33 yards for a touchdown, and Roberts connected with Keonte Watts for a 7-yard touchdown that gave San Augustine a 28-18 halftime lead.

Jenkins' 1-yard touchdown run in the third quarter finished off the scoring for San Augustine.

Both teams are back in action next Friday night. San Augustine is at Beckville, while West Sabine plays at Joaquin.
