Saturday Basketball: Marshall + Laneville Boys Pick Up Victories

MARSHALL -- The Marshall Mavericks remained unbeaten on the season with a 79-36 victory over Kilgore on Saturday.

Tiandre Jackson-Young led a group of four Mavericks (5-0) who reached double figures in scoring with 15 points. Chris Brown, T.J. Maxfield and Trell Patton had 10 points apiece.

Trey Conrod led Kilgore with 18 points.

Marshall returns to action next weekend at the Shreveport Huntington Tournament, which begins Thursday and runs through Saturday. Kilgore hosts Tatum on Tuesday.

No. 5 Laneville Tops Miller Grove

LANEVILLE -- The fifth-ranked Laneville Yellow Jackets earned a 68-61 win over Miller Grove on Saturday.

Ty Johnson led Laneville (4-0) with 21 points, seven rebounds and five blocks. Donta Harris added 17 points, four assists and three steals, Tra Alexander had 12 points, seven boards and three steals and Kendrick Anderson provided 11 points, six rebounds and three blocks.

Laneville's season resumes next weekend at the Mount Enterprise Tournament, which runs Thursday-Saturday.
