2015 Week 2 Games

PITTSBURG -- Just a year removed from a 63-point defeat at the hands of the Gladewater Bears, the Pittsburg Pirates were out for revenge Friday night at Pirate Stadium. Mission accomplished. The Pirates jumped out to a 28-0 lead, withstood a third-quarter rally, and pulled away for a 49-36 victory over ninth-ranked Gladewater.

TEXARKANA, Ark. -- It wasn't easy and it definitely wasn't pretty, but Texas High got back on top of its rivalry with Texarkana (Ark.) Arkansas High on Friday with a 28-14 win. Tigers senior running back J'Kardi Witcher added a cornerstone piece to his legacy in the process. He scored twice on 25 carries for 202 yards and added a 98-yard kickoff return touchdown for good measure.

TYLER -- When it was all said and done, Lufkin players crowded around head coach Todd Quick, and serenaded him with a joyful rendition of "Happy Birthday." It was truly cause for celebration. WASKOM -- Waskom was well-known for scoring plenty of points in the Wildcats' state championship run last year, but their defense was on display Friday night.

BULLARD -- Brooks Parham ran for two touchdowns and Major Tennison caught a score to help Bullard get its first win of 2015, 35-14, over former district rival Brownsboro on Friday.

LINDALE – The Carthage Bulldogs were able to withstand a second-half rally from the Lindale Eagles to claim a 24-20 win Friday night at Eagle Stadium.

ATHENS -- It was a tough one for the Athens Hornets on Friday in their home opener at Bruce Field.

NACOGDOCHES -- Hallsville needed overtime to win for the second consecutive week.

LONGVIEW -- Van running back Aphonso Thomas reached six touchdowns in two games after scoring three more Friday night in the Vandals' 55-21 win over Spring Hill.

MARSHALL -- Cameron Haller and Co. kept pouring the points on Crandall on Friday night, and Marshall moved to 2-0 on the season with a 55-7 rout of the Pirates at Maverick Stadium.
