All six teams in District 6-3A Division II have something to prove this season. Grand Saline is ready for something to celebrate after going a combined 0-20 the past two seasons, and they just might have something going on with 18 returning starters. Alba-Golden, meanwhile, is hoping to show its strong recent seasons were more than just new Linden-Kildare head coach Gary Schultz.

JACKSONVILLE -- The Whitehouse LadyCats remained unbeaten in District 16-5A with a 25-8, 25-8, 25-10 sweep of Jacksonville on Tuesday night.

TYLER -- Ozzie Buckner, Kendrick Rogers and the rest of the Frankston Indians made it quick and relatively painless for Grand Saline on the way to a 49-7 win Saturday at Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium. Buckner threw for 303 yards and rushed for 40 more. Rogers recorded 213 receiving yards in the game, and a strong all-encompassing running game burned through the second half in about 30 minute

Alba-Golden, Edgewood and Grand Saline have been paired in District 6-3A Division II and all three schools should have slightly different goals in a group rounded out by Cooper, Lone Oak and Paris Chisum. Edgewood looks like a team that could go far with Jackson Tyner at quarterback and a strong supporting cast of 12 returning staters...

BRYAN -- Hughes Springs pitcher Dylan Moore, who's been dominating opposing hitters for the previous four seasons, received a big honor Monday when he was selected to the first team of the Texas Sports Writers Association/Collin Street Bakery Class 2A All-State Baseball Team.
