WINONA -- The Chapel Hill Lady Bulldogs grabbed a pair of wins Thursday on the opening day of the Winona Tournament.

Chapel Hill took down Mount Pleasant Chapel Hill, 46-43, after earning a 43-21 defeat of Holliday.

In the win over MPCH, Princes Suell led the Lady Bulldogs (10-1) with 13 points, which included four 3-pointers. Mykaela Alfred added 12 points, while Kyla Moore and Daija Maddox finished with nine and eight points, respectively.

Taylor Brown had 11 points in the losing effort for MPCH (11-2). Tori Brack chipped in with 10 points.

In the Lady Bulldogs' victory over Holliday, April Walker scored a team-high 13 points. Alfred finished with 10 points, while Maddox added nine.

 

Winona Goes 2-0 on Thursday

WINONA -- The Winona Ladycats earned a pair of wins in their tournament on Thursday, defeating Hawkins, 58-33, and Arp, 51-29.

In the win over Hawkins, Randaysha Hanson led Winona (6-0) with 22 points, seven rebounds, and 12 steals. Lexi Lacy added 10 points, three assists, and three steals.

Hanson led the way against Arp as well with 15 points, nine rebounds, and seven steals. Nichole Garrett finished with 13 points, while Lacy had 10 points and four steals.

Tyler Grace Holds On For Narrow Win

FRISCO -- The Tyler Grace Lady Cougars earned a hard-fought 57-54 win over Trinity Christian-Cedar Hill, which is ranked No. 6 in the state among large private schools by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches.

With the game tied at 54-54, Emily Edwards was fouled and made both free throws for a two-point lead with 43 seconds to play. After a TCCH miss, Jordan Tauscher corralled a rebound, and made one of two shots from the line to push the lead to 57-54 with 27.3 seconds remaining.

TCCH had one final shot to tie the game, but missed with 1.6 seconds to play, allowing Grace (8-2) to escape with the win.

Addie Daughtry led Grace with 27 points, which included three 3-pointers. Parker Daughtry added 15 points in the win.

The Lady Cougars continue tournament action at noon Friday against Dallas Bishop Dunne.

 

Beckville Rolls in Mount Enterprise

MOUNT ENTERPRISE -- The Beckville Ladycats remained perfect on the season with a 45-10 rout of the Mount Enterprise junior varsity Thursday at the Mount Enterprise Tournament.

Kimber Wesner paced Beckville (4-0) with 12 points, four rebounds, and two steals. Jordan Tondreau added eight points and five boards, Madi Mize had four points and three assists, while Chelcie Pierce chipped in with five assists, three rebounds, and a steal.

Marshall Tops Whitehouse in Battle of Unbeatens

TATUM -- The Marshall Mavericks stayed perfect on the young season with a 66-60 win over previously unbeaten Whitehouse on Thursday at the Tatum Tournament.

Tiandre Jackson-Young led Marshall (4-0) with 23 points, while Trel Patton added 20 points in the win.

Whitehouse fell to 5-1 on the season.
