WHITEHOUSE -- Whitehouse clinched third-place in District 17-5A with a 25-23, 25-15, 21-25, 25-16 win against Ennis.

Molly Harris paced the team to its third-place finish. She recorded 40 assists, aced four serves and saved 21 points on defense.

Sydney Malmstrom led the team in scoring with 19 kills and three blocks. Kaitlyn Wood also reached double digits with 10 kills.

Whitehouse finished its regular season at 23-16 overall and 8-3 in the league. It has a long bi-district playoff road trip coming up next week against either Bryan or College Station.

Bryan and College Station are currently tied for second place in the adjacent District 18-5A and will settle the tie Friday.

The winner of the Bryan-College Station game will face Whitehouse either Oct. 31 or Nov. 1 at a neutral site.

 

Beckville Closes District With Perfect Record

BECKVILLE -- Beckville swept Ore City to finish District 16-3A play with a perfect 12-0 record.

Beckville won Tuesday's match, 25-2, 25-18, 25-17.

Riley Seegers led the winning side in both points scored and assists. She scored 11 points on 10 kills and one block while adding 40 assists on other Beckville points in the match.

Jordan Tondreau hit double digits with 10 kills.

Beckville will host Carthage from Class 4A in an exhibition game Friday.

 

Carthage Breezes By Center

CARTHAGE -- Carthage finished District 16-4A unbeaten by way of defeating Center, 25-13, 25-7, 25-8.

Faith Landrenaux scored a team-best 17 kills against Center. Alli Capps scored on 11 kills and Cindrasha Boykin got close to double digits with nine kills.

Carthage will travel to Beckville for an exhibition game Friday before beginning playoff competition.

 

Carlisle Sweeps Troup

TROUP -- Carlisle ended its regular season on a high note, a 25-12, 25-21, 25-19 win Tuesday at Troup.

The usual suspects were in full force for Carlisle.

Haley Jordan scored 26 points on 23 kills and three blocks and setter Cheyenne Vannier recorded 30 assists.

Carlisle will face Linden-Kildare at Tatum High School on Monday for its bi-district round playoff match in the Class 2A state playoffs.

 

Gary Rolls By Overton

OVERTON -- Gary clinched second place in 20-2A after defeating Overton by a score of 25-22, 26-24, 25-19.

Leanne Youngblood scored 20 points in the match on 15 kills, four aced serves and one block.

Taylor Rodgers recorded 27 assists in addition to two points in the match.

Gary's final district record was 10-2.

 

Hicks Leads Quitman Over Grand Saline

QUITMAN -- Cammie Hicks recorded 27 assists to guide Quitman to a quick win at Grand Saline, 25-20, 25-15, 25-18.

Hicks also scored seven points in the match, which was good enough to finish fourth on the score sheet.

Kaci Raley and Molly Tanner tied for the team lead in most points. Both players scored 12 times.

Madalyn Spears was the third-leading scoring with eight points.

Quitman is awaiting its bi-district playoff opponent in the Class 3A state playoffs.

 

Alba-Golden Tops Mineola In Four

ALBA -- Alba-Golden defeated Mineola in four sets, 25-15, 25-18, 15-25, 25-18, for its final win of the regular season.

Three players reached double digits for Alba-Golden in its victory.

Gracie Pendergrass scored 15 points, Bethany Carson recorded 13 points and Ginny Carson got 12 points.

Briana Weissart led the team in the assists department with 40.

Quitman awaits its bi-district playoff opponent in the Class 3A state playoffs.
