UTSA Extends Offer to New Boston’s Jeff Gladney

The second offer came in Wednesday night for New Boston 2015 athlete Jeff Gladney, and it came from UTSA, the Lions playmaker announced on Twitter.

Gladney (6-0, 174) got his first Division I FBS offer two weeks ago from Northern Illinois, but heard from the Roadrunners just days before their spring game, which is scheduled for Saturday.

UTSA has now offered two East Texans in the 2015 class -- Gladney and Canton defensive end Samuel Miller. UTSA was able to sign Carthage's state championship-winning quarterback Blake Bogenschutz earlier this year.

The Roadrunners, who compete in Conference USA, went 7-5 overall and 6-2 in league play last season. UTSA, a transitional FBS member, was ineligible for a bowl game the last two seasons but will be in 2014 as a full member.

In 2013, Gladney, who played both receiver and cornerback and could play either at the next level, helped lead New Boston to the Class 2A Division I state semifinals -- the Lions' first trip to the semifinals in school history.
