Wednesday Basketball Roundup: Pine Tree, Edgewood, Frankston Earn Victories
LONGVIEW -- The Texas High Tigers scored a 47-40 win over Pine Tree on Wednesday in a District 14-4A game that was pushed back a day because of weather.
Pine Tree (10-18, 3-3) was led by Caleb Chumley's 16 points.
Texas High (12-11, 3-3) pulled into a tie with the Pirates for third place in the district standings.
The Pirates continue their season Friday at Hallsville.
Edgewood Rolls to Big Win Over Grand Saline
GRAND SALINE -- Jacob Sharff had 17 points and three steals, leading Edgewood past Grand Saline, 68-35, Wednesday in District 14-2A action.
Jackson Tyner added 13 points for Grand Saline (19-9, 8-2), while Kobe Huett contributed 12 points, five rebounds, four assists and seven steals. Eugene Dillard had 11 points and eight boards.
Grand Saline dropped to 1-9 in district.
Edgewood's season continues Friday at home against Quitman, while Grand Saline is at Alba-Golden.
Frankston Takes Care of Harmony
HARMONY -- The Frankston Indians rolled to a 68-46 win over Harmony in District 18-2A action on Wednesday.
Corey Warren led Frankston (18-8, 9-1) with 15 points. Greg Hart added 13 points, Kendrick Rogers had 12 and Tye Griffin contributed 10.
Alan Peralta led Harmony (9-18, 2-8) wit 14 points. Reid Rendon chimed in with 11 in the losing effort.
Frankston returns to action Friday at home against Arp. Harmony is at Sabine.
