West Rusk’s Tyree Wilson Offered By Mississippi State

West Rusk 2018 linebacker Tyree Wilson decommittted from Washington State on Friday, and on Sunday he received his first offer from an SEC program.

Wilson (6-5, 225) announced via Twitter that Mississippi State has offered.

The Bulldogs became the 14th Division I FBS team to offer Wilson, who also holds Power 5 conference offers from Kansas, Oklahoma State, and Washington State.

Mississippi State has also offered John Tyler LB and SMU commit Tre Allison and John Tyler OLB and Houston pledge Dekalen Goodson.

In spite of fierce competition with his teammates at the middle level of the defense, as has been the case at West Rusk in recent seasons, Wilson was able to record 74 total tackles through his junior year. Thirteen tackles went for loss in an 11-game season that ended with a first-round appearance in the Class 3A Division II state playoffs.

Mississippi State finished the 2016 season with a 6-7 record, defeating Miami (Ohio), 17-16, in the St. Petersburg Bowl.

Bulldogs head coach Dan Mullen is starting his ninth year as head coach in Starkville, Miss. His Mississippi State teams have finished seasons ranked two times and have reached bowl games seven times.

Mississippi State is two years removed from a 10-2 regular season with three wins against top 10 teams.

Wilson will first become eligible to sign with any program that offers him in December.
