Carthage Finishes Off Sweep Of Groesbeck + Advances To Third Round Of Softball Playoffs

COMMERCE -- The Carthage Lady Dawgs advanced to the third round of the playoffs for the first time in six years with a 3-1 win over Groesbeck on Saturday, which completed an area-round sweep.

Carthage (25-2) will face either Lorena or Huntington next week in the Class 4A Region III quarterfinals.

Samantha Clakley (23-1) continued her year-long dominance by striking out 13 and allowing just one unearned run on one hit in seven innings.

Offensively, Carthage was led by Kyrstin Martin (2-for-3, triple, RBI, run), Ashleigh Edge (2-for-3, triple, RBI, run), Clakley (1-for-3, double, RBI), and Kacey Maines (1-for-3).
