Ranked Jefferson Boys Run Down Ore City For Lead In District 16-3A

Jefferson point guard Dee Mitchell recorded eight assists and a second-best 22 points in the Bulldogs 73-53 victory Tuesday at Ore City.

ORE CITY -- Treston Dowell had to laugh when asked how his team managed to get out of the 13-point hole it created for itself in the first five minutes of Tuesday's important showdown at Ore City.

Not only did Jefferson overcome a tidal wave of negative momentum in the first quarter, it had the lead by the 6:43 mark of the second period. And it won the contest in grand fashion, 73-53, for first place in the District 16-3A standings near the midway point of the league schedule.

SULPHUR SPRINGS -- Sulphur Springs' standing room crowd was amped and ready to help their squad gain the upper hand Friday in a game between the final two unbeaten teams in District 16-5A play.
