TYLER -- John Tyler responded in the best way possible to its first loss in District 16-5A play.
The No. 17 Lady Lions overcame a slow start in Tuesday's game against a competitive Nacogdoches squad for a convincing 77-25 win on the heels of a tough loss at Lufkin on Friday.
TYLER -- It was a day John Tyler's Isaac Warren will always remember.
Warren made headlines hours before an important District 16-5A basketball game against Nacogdoches with the announcement he plans to play Northwestern State football as a defensive back upon graduation. He then capped Tuesday with eight points in a 48-41 against the league's frontrunner before a large crowd and the complete Big Blue Band.
GLADEWATER -- The ninth-ranked Bullard Lady Panthers remained unbeaten in District 16-4A with a 68-35 rout of Gladewater on Tuesday night.
TYLER -- Sometimes, the game plan must be altered because of in-game circumstances. The hot shooting touch of Tyler All Saints senior guard Aston Francis called for a recalculation from his father, head coach Eddie Francis.
The younger Francis lit it up early from three-point range and finished with a game-high 29 points, leading the sixth-ranked Trojans to a convincing 72-52 win Tuesday night over crosstown rival Tyler Grace that kept All Saints unbeaten and all alone atop the TAPPS District 2-4A standings.

NACOGDOCHES -- Few had the Dragons or Lindale pegged as the single biggest team to beat in District 16-5A at the outset of the season. Yet the two teams got to play for the honor in front of a passionate crowd Friday.
De'Quan Batiste scored 28 points to guide Nacogdoches in a 54-49 victory against the Eagles. A victory which gave his squad -- the only team with a single district loss -- sole possession of first place at exactly the halfway mark of the league schedule.
