FORNEY -- The second-ranked Whitehouse Wildcats improved to 4-0 on the young season with a pair of wins Friday at the Forney Tournament -- defeating HSAA North 8-2 and Garland by a score of 11-10.

In the defeat of HSAA North, Patrick Mahomes made his pitching debut, allowing one unearned run on three hits with six strikeouts and two walks in four innings. He also went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs at the plate, while Ryan Cheatham collected a pair of hits.

In the win over Garland, Cheatham, Eric Munoz and Peyton Conser all had two RBIs, while Coleman Patterson was 2-for-2 with a double, RBI and two runs scored. Grant Herrington got the start on the mound, allowing five runs (three earned) on five hits with seven strikeouts and one walk in 5 1/3 innings. Caleb McNulty pitched the final 2/3 of an inning to record the save.

Whitehouse plays twice again on Saturday in Forney -- vs. Texas High at 12:45 p.m. and Forney at 3:30 p.m.

Longview Wins Twice At Oil Belt Classic

KILGORE -- The Longview Lobos picked up a pair of wins Friday at the Oil Belt Classic at Driller Park, defeating Pleasant Grove 6-2 and Glenbrook (Minden, La.) 4-0.

In the win over Pleasant Grove, Will Bradshaw and Sam Scarborough combined on a no-hitter. Bradshaw went five innings and struck out eight, allowing two runs (one earned). Scarborough pitched one perfect inning of relief.

Jared Pauley and Luke Taylor each had two hits, while Luke Armstrong, Scarborough, Bradshaw and Dez Chumley had one RBI apiece.

Taylor doubled and drove in two to lead Longview over Glenbrook, while Scarborough went 2-for-3. Armstrong went 4 2/3 innings, and allowed six hits with four strikeouts and two walks. Scarborough and Chuck Edge combined on 1 1/3 inning of relief, allowing one hit with four strikeouts and two walks.

Longview concludes play in Kilgore against Carthage at 3:15 p.m. Saturday.

SOFTBALL

Carthage Goes 1-1 at Hallsville Tourney

HALLSVILLE -- The Carthage Lady Dawgs split their two games at the Hallsville Tournament on Friday, losing 5-0 to Hallsville and defeating Lindale by a score of 2-1.

Carthage was held without a hit in its loss to Hallsville. Samantha Clakley took the loss, allowing one earned run on four hits with three strikeouts and five walks.

Brooklyn Peace earned the win against Lindale. She allowed no earned runs on four hits with three strikeouts and one walk. Kacey Maines was 2-for-3 with a triple and a run scored, Peace was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, while Morgan Davis singled home the winning run as the time limit expired.
