Garrett Barton + Jobie Ainsworth Lead New Diana to 49-32 Win Over DeKalb

DIANA — Running back Garrett Barton and quarterback Jobie Ainsworth powered New DIana to a 49-32 victory over DeKalb on Friday night in the regular-season finale for both teams.

Barton rushed for 195 yards and three touchdowns on 17 carries for New Diana (7-3, 4-3 in District 9-2A DivisionI), which will face unbeaten Garrison (10-0) in a 2A Region III bi-district playoff at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Carthage. Ainsworth rushed seven times for 108 yards and a touchdown and passed for 48 yards and another score in the Eagles’ win.

K.J. Jeffery added 92 yards and two touchdowns rushing for New Diana, which rolled up 409 yards on the ground as a team.

JQ Shaw and Barton had interceptions on defense for New Diana, while Coy Holland, Cameron Taylor, Skylar Simpson and Garrett Shields had one sack apiece. Cody Holland added 10 tackles (three for loss) and DeQuailyn Hollins also turned in a 10-tackle performance with one of those going for a loss.
