MESQUITE -- Make that 28 in a row for Gilmer.

The No. 2 Buckeyes scored two defensive touchdowns and had no issues with Mexia on Friday night, taking down the Black Cats 63-14 at Mesquite Memorial Stadium in a Class 4A Division II area-round playoff.

Gilmer, now 12-0 on the season, will take on Center at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium in Tyler in the regional round. Center beat Fairfield, 42-28, on Friday night.

Kollin Hurt recorded three interceptions and returned one for a touchdown for the defending champs. Zod Heath picked up a fumble and returned it 26 yards for a score in the third quarter.

Red Jones caught two touchdown passes for Gilmer, while Demarco Boyd scored on a 4-yard run and added a two-point conversion in the win.

Devin Smith and Cambron Granville added touchdown runs for Gilmer.
