Two Hallsville boys athletes signed national letters of intent Wednesday on the first day of the early signing period.

Bobcat golf standout Devin Jackson signed with Texas Tech, while baseball star Connor Reich inked with TCU. Both players had been committed to their respective schools for some time.

Jackson finished tied for fourth at the Class 4A state meet this past spring with a two-day score of 1-under 139. The state trip was the second in a row for Jackson, who in 2012 became the first Hallsville golfer in program history to qualify for the state meet. Jackson became the first high school competitor in the history of the Longview City Golf Championship to win the event when he claimed the prize in late August.

Reich, a hard-throwing right-hander, went 10-2 on the mound for Hallsville last season with a 0.87 earned run average, 143 strikeouts, and 33 walks in 88 1/3 innings. He also hit .383 with three homers and 31 RBIs.

Reich was a first-team selection on the ETSN.fm Baseball Super Team and the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association all-state team. He was also named to the Louisville Slugger All-American team.
