The offer list continues to grow for Newton junior Kevin Shorter.

The Eagles' two-way standout told ETSN.fm on Friday afternoon that he added an offer from Maryland. That gives Shorter 13 offers to date.

The 6-foot, 188-pound running back and defensive back now holds offers from the following programs: Arkansas, Baylor, Georgia Tech, Houston, Kansas, LSU, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, UCLA, ULM, and Utah.

The Maryland offer comes only two days after Shorter's previous most recent offer, which came Wednesday from UCLA. LSU offered Shorter during a March 15 junior day visit.

Shorter had a huge junior season for Newton, which finished 13-1 with a Class 2A Division I Region III semifinal appearance. He led the Eagles with 1,810 yards and 31 touchdowns on 151 carries, averaging 12.0 yards per carry. He also caught 15 passes for 315 yards — 21.0 yards per catch — and four touchdowns. Defensively, he had 58 tackles and three interceptions playing safety.

Shorter's 13 offers put him second among East Texas recruits in the 2014 class behind Mount Pleasant receiver K.D. Cannon, who holds 15 offers: Arizona, Baylor, Clemson, Florida State, Houston, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, SMU, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, West Virginia
