Mount Pleasant QB Montravious James Named District 14-4A MVP

Mount Pleasant senior quarterback Montravious James received District 14-4A Most Valuable Player honors with the release of the league's all-district team as voted by coaches.

Versatile Sulphur Springs junior Willy Ivery was named Offensive Player of the Year, while Texas High junior linebacker Anthony Rhone earned Defensive Player of the Year accolades. Sulphur Springs senior Jenner Jackson was named Offensive Lineman of the Year and Texas High senior defensive tackle Jonathan Hunt received Defensive Lineman of the Year.

James led Mount Pleasant to an 8-3 record and second-place finish in 14-4A. He threw for 3,323 yards, 39 touchdowns, and nine interceptions and ran for 747 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Ivery helped Sulphur Springs finish 8-3 with the 14-4A championship. He had 86 carries for 914 yards and 22 touchdowns, while snagging 54 passes for 674 yards and six scores. Rhone had almost 150 tackles to lead the Tigers, who finished 3-7 with a first-round playoff loss.

Offensive Newcomer of the Year went to Hallsville's Logan Bailey. Defensive Newcomer was Sulphur Springs' Zach Spigner. Both are sophomores.
