VAN -- The No. 13 Mineola Lady Jackets used the long ball to thump District 15-3A rival Van, 11-0 in five innings, on Tuesday.

Mineola's top four hitters in the order combined to go 13-for-14 with three home runs and four doubles, while Rikkilyn Hass threw a complete-game, two-hitter to thwart the Lady Vandals.

Brittney Johnson also went 4-for-4 at the plate with a homer and a double for Mineola (13-4, 3-0). Teammate Morgan Catron went 2-for-2 with a homer, double, and five RBIs. Rikkilyn Hass was 3-for-4 on the night with a homer, double and two RBIs, while Marisa Ledkins went 4-for-4 with a triple, double and an RBI.

"We had a heart-to-heart family talk yesterday," said Mineola coach Jana Nance. "That we have to come out here, start strong at the beginning and don't let up. (Van) is 2-0 (in district), we are 2-0, this is what matters right here. Who's going to take district. Our girls wanted it bad."

Mineola pushed across four runs in the first inning on two-run homers from Hass and Catron.

Catron added a three-run double in the second, while Jade Green chipped in with an RBI to Mineola's lead to 8-0.

Johnson homered to start the fourth inning, and Mineola pushed across three more runs.

"We've now set the tone," Nance said. "Three home runs later, it doesn't get any sweeter than this. We played as a team and hit the ball awesome. There's nothing I can say negative after today's performance."

Hallee Carter and Kylee Moore had singles for the Lady Vandals (14-5-1, 2-1).
