Pittsburg head football coach and athletic director Robert Manley has resigned.

Manley, whose resignation was reported by David Smoak, leaves Pittsburg after leading the Pirates to a 40-28 record in six seasons. Pittsburg went 2-8 overall and 1-4 in District 13-3A in 2012, which was the Pirates' third consecutive season to miss the playoffs.

Manley guided the Pirates to a 12-2 record and Class 3A Division II state semifinal appearance in 2009, which was the third consecutive season he led them to the playoffs. Manley's first two teams went 8-5 in 2007 and 7-4 in 2008 before the big year in 2009, which ended with a 27-21 loss to quarterback Case McCoy and Graham.
