One day after standing out at the fifth annual ETSN.fm + APEC Football Recruiting Combine, the first Division I scholarship offer arrived for Brownsboro 2018 OLB/ATH Kenneth Woods.

The versatile Bears player announced the news via Twitter, late Monday night.

Woods, who measured at 6-1 1/2 inches and 209 pounds at Sunday's event, was among the most impressive performers out of the 87 participants in attendance.

He clocked a laser-timed 4.88-second 40-yard dash, put up 11 bench press reps of 185 pounds, recorded the highest vertical jump (31 inches) of any of the seven linebackers competing, and was a monster during skills work in the afternoon.

Woods played multiple positions for Brownsboro during his junior year. He finished with 26 catches (tied for a team best) for 370 yards and a team-leading seven touchdown receptions. On defense, Woods made 40 tackles with one sack and one forced fumble.

Brownsboro struggled in the stacked District 9-4A Division I in 2016, finishing 2-8. The Bears will be under new leadership this fall after head coach Jason Hooker left for the same job at district rival Chapel Hill.

Former Waskom defensive coordinator Greg Pearson was hired as Hooker's replacement last month.

SFA, an FCS program that competes in the Southland Conference, is coached by Clint Conque. The Lumberjacks were 5-6 overall and 4-5 in league play last season.

Woods will become eligible to sign with any school that offers him in December.
