LONGVIEW – Tanner Barr and Kris Boyd were dynamic Saturday night at Lobo Stadium, proving just too much for Henderson to handle in leading the top-ranked Buckeyes to a 64-7 triumph over the Lions.

Barr, the Gilmer quarterback, threw for 304 yards and four touchdowns, and Boyd added 177 rushing yards and three scores as Buckeyes remained unbeaten at 7-0 for the season and 3-0 against 16-3A opponents.

Henderson dropped to 1-5 and 0-2, respectively.

Henderson scored first as quarterback Zane Boles, who threw for 127 yards, found Tre’ Hollins on a 6-yard completion to cap a 74-yard drive. Edgar Sanchez booted the PAT and Gilmer found itself behind, 7-0, for only the second time this season.

The Buckeyes answered though, getting down to business by scoring 64 unanswered points on nine of its 10 possessions.

Boyd’s touchdowns came on runs of 9, 13 and 24 yards. Barr was 10 of 13 for 244 yards in the first half.

His scoring strikes covered 32 yards to Devondrick Dixon, 56 to Chase Tate, 27 to Nick Smith and 3 to Jordan Williams.

Before the evening was complete, Texas A&M commit Josh Walker scored on a 1-yard run,  Kelton Collier came on to add a 3-yard run to go with a 3-yard run by Jordan Williams.

Jaidon Parrish and Dixon came away with interceptions for the Buckeyes’ defense. Parrish’s pick set up the final scoring march of the first half, which covered 21 yards.

Gilmer, which has an open date next week, put together drives of 68, 76, 97, 93 and 21 yards for points in the first half alone. The Buckeyes' scoring marches in the second half covered 57, 79, 80 and 52 yards.

Boles was 10 of 19 passing for 127 yards. His leading receivers were Hollins (3-51, 1) and Tristan Lary (3-32).

Barr was both efficient and effect, completing 14 of 19 for 304 passing yards. Parrish, who came in late to quarterback, was 1 for 1 for 9 yards.

Although Desmond Pollard did not have a scoring catch, he was the leading Buckeyes’ receiver with four receptions for 80 yards.
