LONGVIEW -- The Longview Lobos got a needed District 15-5A victory Tuesday, a 5-1 win against Mount Pleasant.

Luke Armstrong went the distance for Longview (4-7, 2-3). He allowed three hits, no walks and no earned runs on his way to a complete-game win.

The Tigers (1-12, 0-5) jumped on the board with a run in the top of the first. Longview rallied back with RBI singles from Luke Taylor and Tylan Miller.

Aided by two errors, the Lobos put up three more runs in the bottom fifth.

Taylor led Longview at the plate with a 2-for-3 night and three RBIs. Miller also batted 2-for-3 and recorded two RBIs.

The Lobos will visit Sulphur Springs at 7 p.m. Thursday. Mount Pleasant simultaneously hosts Marshall.

 

No. 17 Center Downs Tatum

CENTER -- The 17th-ranked Center Roughriders captured an 8-2 win over Tatum in District 19-4A action Tuesday.

Jacob Mitchell (5-0) earned the win on the mound. The LSU-Shreveport signee worked five innings, allowing two runs on three hits with five strikeouts.

At the plate, Center was led by Taylor Tomlin and Kam Owens, who were each 3-for-5 with two RBIs. Caden Rainbolt also went 3-for-3 with an RBI.

Center continues district play Friday at Henderson, while Tatum hosts Rusk on Thursday.

 

Brook Hill Overpowers Dallas Shelton

BULLARD -- The Bullard Brook Hill Guard captured their fourth consecutive win in TAPPS District 2-4A with a 14-0 rout of Dallas Shelton on Tuesday.

Josh Jenkins picked up the win, allowing three hits with five strikeouts and one walk in five innings. He also went 1-for-4 with two RBIs at the plate.

Other offensive standouts for the Guard (7-7, 4-1) included: Ryan Cox (2-for-3, double, two RBIs, two runs), Jace Kuechle (1-for-1, two RBIs, three runs, two walks), Blake Maddox (1-for-3, home run, two runs), and Reid Hill (1-for-2, two RBIs, run).

Brook Hill returns to action Thursday at Dallas Shelton.
