CARTHAGE -- Senior pitcher Samantha Clakley pitched a shutout and the Lady Dawgs topped an always-strong Lufkin Hudson program, 5-0, in District 19-4A's Tuesday slate of games.

Clakley (13-1) struck out 12 batters and only allowed five total base runners on two hits and three walks.

Kimberlyn Worsham had a perfect game at the plate. She batted hit a double in her 1-for-1 night as well as a walk and hit-by-pitch.

Kaitlynn Earle, Ashleigh Edge and Kacey Maines all recorded an RBI in the game.

Clakley batted 1-for-2 with a run scored.

Carthage, 15-2 overall, hosts Center at 6 p.m. Friday.

 

Elkhart Remains Unbeaten In District

ELKHART -- The Elkhart Lady Elks remained perfect in District 21-3A with a 5-2 win over Palestine Westwood on Tuesday night.

Camnryn Rucker and Preslye Cox combined to hold down the Westwood lineup, combining for 12 strikeouts in seven innings.

Robin Grant led Elkhart (15-1, 5-0) offensively by going 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI. Rucker was also 2-for-3 two RBIs, Tiffany Rosas delivered a solo home run, while Molly Ormand knocked in a run. Shayna McCoy and Sheyenne Heuer collected one hit apiece.

Elkhart returns to the field Friday at Crockett.

 

Pollok Central Overpowers Central Heights

NACOGDOCHES -- The Pollok Central Lady Bulldogs eased to a 12-2 win over Nacogdoches Central Heights in District 22-3A action Tuesday night.

Katelyn Boles struck out 15 and allowed just two unearned runs on only one hit to get the win from the circle.

Abbie Moore had three doubles, a triple and was hit by a pitch to lead Central at the plate. Lauren Oates had two hits, including a double, Shelby East collected two hits, stole three bases and scored twice, and Brittany Caswell had two hits, a steal and run scored.

Baylee Adams collected two hits and scored twice, Macie Gonzales and Jarynn Sprinkle teamed for four steals and five runs, Makenna Bell had a hit and knocked in two runs, while Jena Roland and Mercedes Leal also added RBIs.
