Volleyball Roundup: Pine Tree Tops Mount Pleasant, Van Sweeps Canton

MOUNT PLEASANT -- Pine Tree got a big match from key defenders Darby Davis, Angel Jordan, and Kennedy Sampson to come back to beat Mount Pleasant 21-25, 25-22, 25-12, 25-18 on Friday.

Davis had 24 digs, while Jordan added 14 digs and Sampson had eight. Pine Tree's Sky Holmes had 19 kills, and setter Emily Shelton dished out 30 assists.

Pine Tree (24-5, 3-0) visits rival Hallsville on Tuesday.

Van sweeps Canton in District 15-3A action

VAN -- Haley McCarty had nine kills, two blocks, and three aces, while Bri Thompson added six kills and nine blocks in Van's 26-24, 25-9, 25-21 sweep of Canton on Friday.

Van got seven kills from Rebekah Rogers and 13 digs and an ace from Susannah Wisdom. Morgan Wilkerson added 27 assists and six digs. Hallee Carter chipped in with four kills, three blocks, and five digs, and Payton Bledsoe had 11 digs and one ace.

Van hosts Athens on Tuesday.
