Spring Hill Volleyball Salvages Rivalry Week With Four-Set Win Over White Oak

LONGVIEW -- White Oak sent a strong student section to Spring Hill for Tuesday's volleyball meeting between the local rivals, just four days after the group saw its football team get the best of the Panthers in overtime at the same site.

The Lady Panthers volleyball team and their own large fan base sent the naysayers home in a much less jubilant mood with a 25-20, 14-25, 25-22, 25-16 win for Spring Hill.

Hallsville Headlines Seven East Texas Teams Ranked In Latest TGCA Volleyball Poll

Hallsville (24-1) held steady in the No. 2 spot in the latest Texas Girls Coaches Association's State Volleyball Poll and owns the highest spot of any of the seven East Texas teams listed.

The weekly poll, released Monday and listing the top 20 teams by classification, features Spring Hill (20-15) in its Class 4A poll at the No. 13 position.

The region is most potent at the Class 3A level. White Oak (17-6) checked in at No. 14, Queen City (19-7) at No. 16 and Troup rounded out the ground as the No. 17 school in the state.

LONGVIEW -- So many high school kids started running to the top of the stands to see what the commotion was, the police officer watching over Pine Tree's match against John Tyler had to investigate the sudden crowd shift.

It was just the Lady Pirates making noise in a practice area behind the stands while the junior varsity game wrapped up. They were confident their athleticism was going to carry them to victory Tuesday evening at the Pirate Center despite missing senior middle hitter Sky Holmes to injury.
