For the second consecutive season, the top overall volleyball honor in East Texas belongs to a Carthage senior.
Lady Dawgs' middle blocker Marisah Ingram is the 2014 ETSN.fm East Texas Volleyball Super Team Player of the Year. She follows last season's recipient, Iesha Bryant, who signed with Tennessee.
Van teammates Hallee Carter and Bri Thompson shared Most Valuable Player honors on the 15-4A all-district volleyball team, which was voted on by the league's coaches.
LONGVIEW -- The 2014 Texas Sports Writers Association All-State Volleyball Team was released on Dec. 24. The team was selected by Texas Sports Writers Association members based on nominations from media members and coaches from around the state.
Several players from East Texas earned statewide recognition.
TAPPS 2-4A All-District Volleyball Team
District co-champions Whitehouse and Lindale racked up six of the seven superlatives on the 16-5A all-district volleyball team, which was voted on by the league's coaches.
GARLAND -- White Oak put together four major rallies in Thursday's Class 3A state semifinal game against Brock, but the Ladynecks' season ended one game and two wins short of the grand prize at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland.
The Brock Lady Eagles, a team that made its third consecutive trip to the UIL Volleyball Championships with a win in the Region II championship game, will play for the state title after its 3-1 (25-18, 25-27, 25-16, 25-19) win against one of East Texas' crown jewels.
LONGVIEW -- Beckville's volleyball season ended Friday with a three-set loss to Iola, 26-24, 25-15, 25-19, in the Class 2A Region III semifinals.
The Ladycats finished the 2014 campaign with a 34-6 overall record, including two playoffs wins after a first round bye.

LONGVIEW -- Beckville has not had many problems this season, but under the big lights at Lobo Coliseum the young team found itself in early trouble.
It opened the first set of Tuesday's Class 2A Region III quarterfinal game against Fruitvale down 12-5. Beckville didn't let a small issue become a giant problem though. It rallied to win the first set and the next two for a 25-21, 25-12, 25-19 sweep.
