ETSN.fm Week 5 3A Poll: Gilmer Jumps to No. 2, Canton Makes First Appearance

Kilgore kept the No. 1 ranking, but Gilmer slid into the second spot following the teams' respective District 16-3A-opening victories.

Kilgore (4-0, 1-0) pounded Spring Hill 41-0, while Gilmer (4-1, 1-0) came back to beat Gladewater 21-13 to move up from third to second. Carthage (3-2) lost to Whitehouse 29-27 to drop the Bulldogs from second to third. Henderson (3-2, 1-0) held it No. 4 ranking with a 24-6 win against Chapel Hill.

Center, Palestine, Bullard, Jasper, and Van each moved up one spot.

The Roughriders improved to 5-0 with a 43-30 road win against Tatum to jump from sixth to fifth, while Palestine (3-2) crushed Athens 49-0 to move from seventh to sixth.

Bullard (4-0) had a bye, but moved from eighth to seventh entering this week's big District 16-3A home game against No. 1 Kilgore. Jasper (3-1) was also off, but got a bump in the poll from ninth to eighth going into a non-district matchup against Bridge City.

Van (4-1) beat Liberty-Eylau 34-27 to move from No. 10 to No. 9. Canton (4-1), making its first appearance in the ETSN.fm weekly 3A poll, concluded a successful non-district run with a 62-38 victory against Wills Point.

Rusk's 42-21 loss to Brownsboro knocked the previously unbeaten Eagles from No. 5 out of this week's poll.
