MARSHALL -- Cam Haller rushed for 150 yards and three touchdowns to help Marshall pick up its first victory of the season, 40-0 over Corsicana at Maverick Stadium on Friday night.

Marshall (1-3) limited Corsicana (1-3) to 164 yards of total offense and forced five turnovers, one of which was a fumble returned 60 yards for a touchdown by Carlos Veloz late in the fourth quarter to put the exclamation point on the Mavs' big win.

Mavericks quarterback Hunter Herrington passed for 130 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions on 10-of-16 passing. Corteze Hurd (three catches, 74 yards) and Tahj Washington (three receptions, 45 yards) caught the touchdowns for Marshall.

Marshall's first forced turnover resulted in a 7-0 lead when Herrington hooked up with Hurd for a 37-yard touchdown. Haller's 67-yard scoring run gave Marshall a 14-0 lead midway through the first quarter.

The Mavs took a 20-0 lead just before halftime when Herrington hit Washington in the end zone following a fumble recovery by Greg Hood.

Haller added scoring runs of 9 and 1 yards in the second half to put the game out of reach.

Marshall begins District 16-5A play next Friday night at home against Texas High.
