Cullen Grubbs + K.D. Cannon Lead Mount Pleasant in 77-34 Rout of Terrell
TERRELL -- Friday night's Mount Pleasant at Terrell game was pretty much over after a quarter.
Mount Pleasant scored 41 first-quarter points and Cullen Grubbs threw for a staggering 490 yards and nine touchdowns in a 77-34 blowout of Terrell.
Baylor-bound receiver K.D. Cannon caught nine passes for 271 yards and five touchdowns, which covered 50, 22, 40, 64, and 51 yards. Mount Pleasant (3-0) led 55-20 at halftime and neither team scored after the third quarter.
Mount Pleasant running back T.L. Taylor ran 23 times for 145 yards and two touchdowns, giving him his third-consecutive 100-yard game. Grubbs, who completed 20 of 30 passes, led the Tigers to 661 total yards, more than twice as many as Terrell (318).
Mount Pleasant's Andrew Flanagan caught five passes for 123 yards and two touchdowns, while Jaquille Rodgers caught five passes for 73 yards and two scores.
Terrell's Michael Nelson connected on 17 of 31 passes for 224 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. Mount Pleasant's defense limited Terrell (1-2) to 29 yards on 23 rushing attempts.
Terrell's Damon Moss completed two passes for 65 yards and caught five for 55 yards. Teammates Dawonya Tucker, Frankie Martin, and Ray'Quan Brown-Mobley caught one touchdown pass apiece.
Mount Pleasant visits Class 3A No. 5 Kilgore next Friday.
