Fresh off a statement-making 44-14 rout of rival Longview on opening night, the Lufkin Panthers jumped five spots, all the way to No. 1 in this week's ETSN.fm East Texas Class 6A/5A poll.

Longview, meanwhile, dropped to No. 3 after beginning this season in the top spot.

Whitehouse, Nacogdoches, Marshall and Hallsville all moved up a spot after impressive season-opening victories
