BECKVILLE -- Carthage swept Beckville in an exhibition match of teams that went undefeated in district play Friday by a score of 25-15, 25-12, 25-8, ahead of the state volleyball playoffs commencing next week.

Carson Robertson recorded 32 assists and added five kills in the quick match. Alli Capps led Carthage in scoring with 13 kills.

Cindrasha Boykin got close to double digits as well with nine kills.

Hannah Humphries' nine kills guided Beckville in defeat.

Beckville will begin its promising road in the Class 3A playoffs Tuesday against Sabine at Tatum High School. The match will begin at 6 p.m.

Carthage will play its Class 4A bi-district game early next week against an opponent to be determined.

 

Rains Beats Sulphur Springs

EMORY -- Rains scored an exhibition win for smaller schools against Sulphur Springs from Class 5A in four sets, 25-18, 23-25, 25-15, 25-19, and remained unbeaten since before beginning District 13-4A competition in September.

Charlotte Bradshaw and Taylor Pruitt reached double digits in the win with 18 and 13 kills, respectively. Shelbi Sheppard recorded 36 assists.

Rains will face either Atlanta of Pittsburg, two teams that will play a play-in game for the last playoff spot in District 14-4A, at 7 p.m. Monday inside Mount Pleasant High School's gym.

Sulphur Springs' bi-district opponent will be Forney at a time, date and location to be coordinated between the two schools.
