MESQUITE – Gaylon Wiley and Jaylin Brown connected three times and the Longview defense held off a big-play North Mesquite offensive unit in a 49-35 road win for the Lobos Friday night at Memorial Stadium.

Longview win streak now sits at six games, including a 4-0 tally in District 11-6A, setting up a highly-anticipated match with the John Tyler Lions, who are 3-1 in district play.

Brown hauled in three passes for 80 yards on the night, all ending in the endzone from Wiley, who finished with 125 yards and a rushing touchdown.

On the ground, Kendrevian White amassed 109 yards, D’Crayvan Polk had 98 yards and a touchdown.

Defensively for the Lobos, who forced a Stallion safety and recovered a fumble, Ke’Undre Wilson had a 40-yard interception return to paydirt.

Longview led 14-7 after the first 12 minutes before posting 22 in the second quarter to build a 36-14 lead at intermission.

In the second half, Chris Kessler split the uprights on short-range field goals and Wiley and Brown connected for the third time.

North Mesquite’s Ja’Quez Gooch had two touchdowns through the air of 58 and 24 yards and opened the Stallions’ scoring with a seven-yard scamper. Dreshawn Minnieweather scored twice on nine carries for 153 yards, including a 60-yard blast in the third quarter.
