ATHENS -- The Athens Hornets' 13-game regular-season win streak came to an end Friday night with a 36-20 loss to the Henderson Lions at Bruce Field.

The game started late due to a 30-minute weather delay as the team's were getting ready to head out on the field.

Once the game started, Athens (0-1) fell behind by a score of 14-12 at the half as Henderson scored on runs by Zane Boles and Randy Davis on scores of 1 and 3 yards, respectively.

Athens scored on a 19-yard field goal by David Cedillo, an 11-yard touchdown run by Travon Fuller and a 85-yard blocked PAT by Travon Fuller that Kynden Crist scooped up for the two-point attempt.

In the second half, Henderson outscored Athens 22-8 with 15 points coming in the third quarter.

Davis busted his way through the Hornets defense for a 53-yard run with 9:19 remaining in the quarter. Teammate Trestan Ebner then put the game out of reach with a 5-yard run with 3:21 remaining. On the extra point attempt, Boles ran in the conversion for the 29-12 lead.

Logan Fuller then capped off a 17-play drive with a 1-yard touchdown run that eclipsed 7:08 off the clock for Athens' final score of the game.

Davis wrapped up the scoring with a 4-yard run with 1:37 remaining.

Athens was led by junior Logan Fuller, who had 31 carries for 131 yards, while Hall finished with 19 carries for 93 yards. Travon Fuller had six carries for 91 yards in the loss.

The Hornets return to the field next Friday night on the road against the Diboll Lumberjackets. Henderson plays host to Atlanta the same night.
