CARTHAGE -- The Carthage Bulldogs rebounded from last week's loss to rival Kilgore with a 42-14 rout of Brownsboro in District 9-4A Division I action Friday at Bulldog Stadium.

Carthage senior quarterback Jarod Blissett threw five touchdown passes -- four in the first half, helping the Bulldogs (5-3, 2-1) to a 42-0 lead midway through the third quarter.

Marquise Guinn was on the receiving end of both Blissett touchdown strikes -- covering 53 and 11 yards, respectively -- in Carthage's 14-point fourth quarter, while Jakeldric Jackson hauled in a 79-yard scoring reception and Roderic Calloway scored on a 7-yard catch in the second quarter.

Blissett hit sophomore Hunter Townsend for a 21-yard score in the third quarter for his final touchdown of the night, preceding Ravodney Hardy's 10-yard touchdown run to cap the Bulldogs' scoring.

Brownsboro (4-4, 2-1) senior quarterback Tamrick Pace was injured during the game, and did not return.

The Bears avoided the shutout on backup quarterback Jamal Bell's 17-yard scoring toss to Xavier Richardson late in the third quarter, and Bryant King's 15-yard touchdown run in the fourth rounded out the game's scoring.

Both teams return to action next Friday night. Carthage travels to Palestine (1-7, 0-3), while Brownsboro plays at district-leading Kilgore (6-2, 3-0).
