
J’Kardi Witcher, Texas High Move to 2-0 in District With 21-10 Win Over Hallsville
HALLSVILLE — J'Kardi Witcher rushed for 193 yards and a score, and Texas High held Hallsville to under 150 yards of total offense as the Tigers beat the Bobcats on Friday, 21-10.
The win sent Texas High (4-1) to 2-0 in District 15-5A, and kept the Bobcats (2-3, 0-2) winless in league play.
Witcher scored from 7 yards out with 10:24 to make it a two-score game after Hallsville cut its deficit to 14-10.
Andrew Southard made a diving reception in the end zone with quarterback Roger McCuller facing a rush, the catch going for a 17-yard TD with 1:31 left in the third quarter.
Quan Hampton had a 33-yard TD catch from Texas High's Cade Pearson, who struggled throwing the ball and was 2 of 10 for 37 yards. Hampton broke up a would-be interception and came down with the ball in the end zone with 1:33 left in the first to make it 7-3.
Markese Martin also had a 7-yard scoring rush with 8:55 left in the first half.
Hallsville had 77 yards on 39 rushes, led by McCuller with 60 yards on 17 carries.
Alex Acuna had a 32-yard field goal to start the scoring.
