LONGVIEW -- Beckville will finally get the chance to argue it should have been ranked the No. 1 team in the final Texas Girls Coaches Association's Class 2A poll of the season following Friday's 25-20, 25-20, 25-13 win against Centerville in the Class 2A Region III semifinals.

The Ladycats, ranked second in the poll, will play No. 1 Iola today at 1 p.m. inside Longview's Lobo Coliseum for the right to advance into the state tournament next week in Garland.

Iola swept Avery on the other side of the Region III bracket. Neither Beckville or Iola have lost a single set through the postseason.

Carson Blair led the Ladycats in their regional semifinal match with 13 kills and two aces while Kassidy Alexander set up a match-best 36 points on assists.

Kinley Blair finished second on the team with nine total points.

The Ladycats' appearance in the regional championship is a program first since 2002.
