Rowlett Scores In Final Seconds To Take Down Tyler Lee, 35-30
GARLAND -- Kobe Morrow's 1-yard touchdown with six seconds remaining sent the Rowlett Eagles to a 35-30 victory over Tyler Lee in District 11-6A action Friday night at Homer B. Johnson Stadium.
Morrow's game-winning score came after Tyler Lee running back Tavon Wesley's 11-yard touchdown run that gave the Red Raiders a two-point with just less than four minutes remaining.
Lee (2-3, 1-1), which overcame a 21-6 halftime deficit to take the lead late in the fourth quarter, could not build upon impressive back-to-back wins over John Tyler and Garland Sachse.
Red Raiders quarterback Zach Hall completed 16 of 26 passes for 211 yards, and ran 12 times for a team-best 87 yards. Wesley rushed for 66 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries, while Devonte Craver added 42 yards and a score on eight rushes.
Isjuwan Barker caught eight passes for 140 yards, while Jordan Devers had five receptions for 50 yards in the losing effort.
Morrow led Rowlett (4-1, 2-0) with 138 yards and two touchdowns on 28 carries. Quarterback Logan Bonner was 20 of 35 for 295 yards with two touchdowns and one interception.
Bonner threw a 50-yard touchdown pass to LaDarius Dickens and a 25-yarder to Quinton Stinson, and Morrow scored from a yard out as Rowlett cruised to a 21-6 halftime lead.
Lee evened the game with two third-quarter touchdowns -- a Wesley 3-yard and Craver's 13-yard burst -- and took a 24-21 lead in the fourth quarter on Matthew Hawk's 21-yard field goal.
Nick Johnson's 1-yard touchdown run with 6:16 to play gave Rowlett a 28-24 lead.
