TYLER -- Lindale defeated Beckville in two sets Saturday to claim the championship in the Tyler ISD Invitational Tournament.

After trailing 15-9 in the second set, the Lady Eagles came back to win 25-18. They won the first set 25-22. Shelbi Steen led with 12 kills in the match.

Beckville defeated Tyler Lee in three sets and Whitehouse in two to reach the championship game. The Lady Cats are now 20-7 and will next face Sabine on Tuesday in Beckville.

Rains falls twice in Forney Tournament

FORNEY -- Emory Rains was swept twice in the Forney Tournament on Saturday.

The Lady Cats lost to Crandall in sets of 25-21 and 25-11. They also lost to North Mesquite in sets of 25-16 and 25-21.

Summer Nerkowski finished with four kills and Kaitlyn McIntyre and Chanlee Oakes each had three blocks. Elissa Elliot finished with 11 digs to lead the team.

Rains is now 4-10. It will next face Royse City on Tuesday in Emory.

Carlisle wins consolation bracket in Kerens Tournament.

KERENS -- Carlisle lost its first match but won the next two to claim the consolation back in the Keren Tournament on Saturday.

The Lady Indians took Wills Point to three sets in their first game but lost in a tight 25-23 contest in the deciding one. They wouldn't lose another set.

They first swept Mildred in sets of 25-23 and 25-16 before defeated Trinidad 25-17 and 25-14. In the final match, Heather Craig led with 19 kills, three blocks and two aces. She finished with 44 kills and six blocks through the entirety of the tournament. Jailin See had 27 assists against Trinidad.

The varsity team will next face Gladewater at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Carlisle.
