ALBA -- Alba-Golden thrashed Brownsboro in the first set and held on in the following two sets for a 25-5, 25-23, 25-23 win Saturday.

Kaylee Bizell led all scorers in the game with nine aces and seven kills for the Lady Panthers.

CeTara Carter led Alba-Golden and all players in the match with 12 kills. Brownsboro's Lexi Houston scored a team-best eight kills.

Caitlin Lennon paced Alba-Golden with a match-best 21 assists.

The Lady Bears' Hope Williams had a fantastic defensive match with 28 digs. Leanna Walker and Trysten Mosely also broke double digits with 11 digs each.

Alba-Golden will host Gladewater on Tuesday. Brownsboro will next visit Crandall on Friday.

 

Winona Finishes Second At Big Sandy Tournament

BIG SANDY -- Winona reached the Big Sandy Tournament championship game and fell to host Big Sandy after defeating Carlisle in the semifinal round.

Nichole Garrett had the best championship game with three aces and seven digs in a 25-20, 25-23 loss. Randaysha Hanson also recorded seven digs in the match.

Against Carlisle, a 25-17, 25-19 match win, Hanson recorded 10 assists while Garrett had six kills. Mallori Shacklett scored on three aces and had 14 digs on defense.

 

Beckville Finishes Second In ETBU Tournament

MARSHALL -- Beckville defeated Marshall and Arp in the ETBU Tournament championship bracket before falling to Carthage in the championship game Saturday.

The Ladycats served up eight aces and 25 kills in its 25-18, 25-12 win against Marshall.

Kimber Wesner had a great match against Arp, a 25-17, 25-16 victory, with seven aces as part of their 11 total in the match. Furthermore, the team won about 60 percent of the points it served.

Beckville's run came to an end against Carthage, a 25-12, 25-22 loss. Kinley Blair led the team in defeat with four kills.

The Ladycats will resume play Tuesday with a non-district game against Troup.
