BRONTE -- The top-ranked Beckville Ladycats continued their winning ways, capturing three wins Saturday to capture first place in the Showdown of Texas Tournament.

Beckville (20-3) defeated Bronte (25-16, 25-11), Harper (25-13, 28-26), and Lindsay (25-20, 25-15) on the afternoon.

In the win over Bronte, Natalie Morris led the way with four kills, seven digs, and two aces. Kinley Blair added four kills and three blocks, Carley Lawhorn had four kills and two digs, and Kassidy Alexander registered 18 assists to go with three kills and six digs.

Lawhorn paced Beckville's win over Harper with seven kills. Kinley Blair had three kills, four blocks, and five digs, Cassie Elizondo contributed three kills and a block, while Alexander dished out 15 assists and had eight digs and two aces.

In the championship win over Lindsay, Kinley Blair finished with five kills, three blocks, and four digs. Morris added four kills, six digs, one block, and two aces, Elizondo chipped in with four kills, while Alexander contributed 17 assists and a pair of aces.

Alexander was named the tournament's MVP, while Carson and Kinley Blair were on the all-tournament team.

Beckville plays host to White Oak on Tuesday.

 

All Saints Claims Tyler Tourney's Silver Bracket Title

TYLER -- The Tyler All Saints Lady Trojans claimed the silver bracket championship of the Tyler Tournament with three wins on Saturday.

All Saints (10-6) took care of Pleasant Grove (26-24, 19-25, 25-19) to begin, then downed Sabine (25-22, 25-18) in the semifinals, before defeated Henderson (25-16, 16-25, 25-23) in the championship.

In the win over Henderson, Ferrell Clyde led the way with 20 kills and 15 digs. Hanna Waits recorded three blocks, while Frances Hackney dished out 25 assists to go with 12 digs.

Clyde led the way vs. Pleasant Grove as well with 17 kills and two aces. Waits provided 15 kills, Hackney racked up 33 assists and 12 digs, while Lexi Hossley chipped in with 10 digs.

In the Lady Trojans' semifinal victory, Clyde delivered 11 kills and four blocks. Hackney added 18 assists, Maddie Varga had seven digs, and Elizabeth Enloe served up four aces.

Both Clyde and Waits were named to the all-tournament team.

All Saints' season continues Tuesday at home against Dallas Christian.

 

Hughes Springs Finishes Fourth

HUGHES SPRINGS -- The Hughes Springs Lady Mustangs went 1-2 on Saturday to finish fourth in their own tournament.

Hughes Springs defeated Jefferson (25-14, 25-14) before losing to Mount Pleasant Chapel Hill (25-22, 25-18) and Redwater (25-19, 18-25, 25-17).

Laken Smith and Zoe Lanier led Hughes Springs with six kills apiece in its win over Jefferson. Savannah Wright had nine assists, while Peyton Blythe finished with eight aces.

In the loss to Chapel Hill, Laner led the way with five kills. Kensley Echols added four kills and three aces, Blythe had nine assists, and Kennedi Northam chipped in with 10 digs.

Blythe paced the Lady Mustangs against Redwater with nine kills and 10 assists. Wright also had 10 assists, while Northam and Charlie Reeves combined for 23 digs.

Hughes Springs continues its season Tuesday at Union Grove.

 

Emory Rains Drops Two In Forney

FORNEY -- The Emory Rains Ladycats dropped two matches Saturday to finish ninth overall at the Forney ISD Tournament.

Rains suffered losses to Mesquite Horn (25-18, 25-23) and Ennis (26-24, 25-21).

In the match vs. Horn, Ashley Gowin led Rains with eight kills. Charlotte Bradshaw added five kills, four blocks, and two aces, Corley Cole registered six blocks, five assists, and seven digs, Shelbi Sheppard had nine assists, while Courtney Luckett chipped in with six digs.

Bradshaw led Rains in the loss to Ennis with nine kills and four blocks. Gowin added eight kills, Cole had two blocks and nine assists, Sheppard racked up nine assists, while the duo of Kenna Kellam and Luckett teamed for 22 digs.

Rains plays at Mineola on Tuesday.
