Friday Basketball: Tatum Girls Defeat Hughes Springs, 70-53
TATUM -- The Tatum Lady Eagles, led by Essence Allen, defeated Hughes Springs 70-53 in a home district matchup Friday.
Allen finished with a double-double: 28 points and 10 rebounds. She also had five assists and three blocks. Jayla Hooper also had double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Adrianna Bradley finished with a. team-high 10 assists.
Tatum improved to 16-5 and 5-0 in District 15-3A with the victory. The Lady Eagles are off until next Friday, when they face Elysian Fields at 6 p.m. in Tatum.
Alto Boys get victory against Kennard, 50-29
ALTO -- The Alto Yellowjackets has no trouble escaping Kennard on Friday in a 50-29 victory.
Skyler Atkins and Jay Pope each had 12 to lead the Yellowjackets in the win. Marlon Warren added eight and Fred Thacker seven.
Alto improved to 5-9 with the victory and will next face Buffalo at 6:30 p.m. Monday in Buffalo.
Bullard girls take out Chapel Hill, 53-29
NEW CHAPEL HILL -- The Bullard Lady Panthers defeated Chapel Hill, 53-29 on Friday evening.
Haley Day led with 14 points and Sydney Foster added 13. Bullard improved to 24-6 and 5-0 in District 16-4A with the victory. It will next face Kilgore at 6:30 p.m. next Friday in Bullard.
