Tyler Lee 2017 safety Makyle Sanders has picked up his fifth Division I scholarship offer. And it comes from a program close to home.

The Red Raiders' standout announced via Twitter on Friday afternoon that Stephen F. Austin has officially made him a target.

Sanders (6-1, 177) now has three offers from FCS programs. In addition to SFA, he holds other offers from Central Arkansas and Northwestern State. Memphis and Navy represent Sanders' two FBS offers.

Second-year coach Clint Conque guided SFA to a 4-7 record last season, but the team seemed to turn a corner after the midway mark of the campaign by winning four of its final six games toward a 4-5 Southland Conference record.

One of the Lumberjacks' losses came against TCU, which was the No. 3 team nationally in the FBS at the time.

Conque guided the ‘Jacks to an FCS playoff appearance in 2014.

SFA successfully landed Brownsboro athlete Tamrick Pace, Tyler Lee quarterback Zach Hall and Nacogdoches receiver Alex Gregory last February. Pittsburg linebacker Fre’Zarian Harrison committed to the program as a late addition in April.

Sanders racked up 105 tackles with two interceptions and 12 passes broken up for Lee last season. The team finished 5-5 in 2015 and tied for third place in District 11-6A, but it missed the postseason on tiebreakers.

Lee will remain in 11-6A this fall and welcomes a few new district mates in longtime rivals John Tyler and Longview. Mesquite, Mesquite Horn, North Mesquite, Rockwall and Rockwall-Heath make up the rest of the league.

Sanders, like all high school football prospects preparing to enter their senior year, will become eligible to sign with any school that offers him in February.
