NEW LONDON -- Jaylon Garland ran for three touchdowns in the first half and West Rusk notched its second consecutive shutout with a 63-0 win over Harleton, on Friday in District 9-3A Division II play.

District 9-3A Division II is a microcosm of Region III at large -- very deep and very talented. This district is home to two major Division I commits -- Arp's DeMarvion Overshown (Texas) and West Rusk's Tyree Wilson (Texas A&M). LONGVIEW -- Elysian Fields torched Harleton in both teams' District 9-3A Division II opener, 46-0, Saturday on the big stage at Longview's Lobo Stadium. Quarterback Logan Hughes, who played spot roles offensively last season on Waskom's state championship team, completed 20 of 26 passes for 331 yards. He threw four touchdown passes to one interception.

Between Waskom, West Rusk, and Arp, District 9-3A Division II sported an 11-2 record in the playoffs. Waskom won its second consecutive state championship, while West Rusk and Arp did not meet their end until facing Waskom in the postseason...
