Emory Rains entered the 2016 season with big expectations. It didn't disappoint. The Ladycats went undefeated in District 13-4A play and clinched the league title with ease. They advanced on to the Region II tournament semifinal round before calling it a year.

GILMER -- The Lady Buckeyes clinched the District 15-4A district championship and a top seed in the Class 4A playoffs Tuesday with a 25-21, 25-10, 25-21 win against Bullard. The Lady Panthers, who have only dropped district games to Gilmer, would have tied for the district lead if they had won the contest. That would have forced a true district championship game next week.

CARTHAGE -- The Carthage Lady Dawgs rolled to a 25-11, 25-11, 25-14 sweep of Tatum in District 16-4A action Tuesday. Carthage (28-6, 5-0) was led by Alli Capps, who finished with 10 kills. Cindrasha Boykin and Matti Doffitt added nine and seven kills, respecitvely, while Carson Robertson assisted on 26 points, and Kaitlyn Nutt finished with 10 digs...

EUSTACE -- Quitman remained perfect through its first round of District 12-3A competition Friday with a 20-25, 25-17, 25-18, 25-23 win at Eustace. Kaci Raley scored a team-best 20 points on 15 kills, four aces and one block in the four-set contest. Molly Tanner also reached double digits with 11 kills and three blocks for the winning side.

PRICE -- The Carlisle Lady Indians rolled to a 26-24, 25-17, 25-20 sweep of Timpson in District 20-2A action Friday night. Carlisle (17-12, 2-1) was led by Hayley Jordan, who finished with 13 kills. Heather Craig added five kills, four aces, and 10 digs, while Cheyenne Vannier had 22 assists and six digs...

LONGVIEW -- The Quitman Lady Bulldogs suffered their first defeat of the season, dropping a dramatic five-set match to Pine Tree, 18-25, 10-25, 25-21, 25-22, 16-14 on Friday night. Quitman (7-1) was led in the loss by Madalyn Spears, who had 15 kills, 10 digs, six aces, and one block...
