Tuesday Volleyball Roundup: Carthage’s Leven Barker Collects 500th Career Win + More

CARTHAGE -- Carthage coach Leven Barker collected his 500th career win as the Lady Bulldogs swept past Rusk, 25-14, 25-14, 25-14, Tuesday night in District 19-4A action.

Alli Capps led Carthage with 18 kills and 14 digs. Cindrasha Boykin added 11 kills and five blocks, Mattison Doffit provided seven kills and four blocks, while Kenzie Templeton dished out 39 assists, and Kaitlyn Nutt chipped in with 28 digs.

Carthage returns to action Oct. 20 at Henderson.

Alba-Golden Still Perfect in District

ALBA -- The Alba-Golden Lady Panthers remained unbeaten in District 14-3A with a 25-13, 25-16, 25-19 sweep of Mineola on Tuesday.

CeTara Carter led Alba-Golden (24-7, 8-0) with seven kills and five blocks. Gracie Pendergrass added six kills, Kaylee Bizzell had five kills and three aces, Caitlin Lennon provided four blocks, seven digs, and 18 assists, Hannah Ellis chipped in with four blocks, while Briana Weissert registered 10 assists, four digs, and two aces.

Alba-Golden's season continues Friday at Grand Saline.

Winona Too Much For Harmony

WINONA -- The Winona Ladycats rolled to a 25-21, 25-23, 15-25, 25-20 victory over Harmony in District 14-3A action on Tuesday.

Nichole Garrett led Winona with 22 kills on the evening. Madalin Reed added seven kills, Randaysha Hanson dished out 37 assists, while the duo of Mallori Shacklett and Janeth Tarango combined for 38 digs.

Winona plays at Quitman on Friday.

Troup Overpowers Rice

TROUP -- The Troup Lady Tigers rolled to a 25-13, 25-18, 25-16 sweep of Rice on Tuesday in District 18-3A action.

Alex Flora led Troup with 10 kills, 10 digs and six aces. Kori Minnix added five kills, two digs, and four aces, Madison Hampton had four kills, nine digs, and an ace, Natalie Davenport finished with three kills, 21 assists, six digs, and two aces, while Jansen Reid chipped in with 14 digs and a kill, and Madi Burke added 12 digs.

Troup's season continues Friday at Corsicana Mildred.

Carlisle Sweeps Leverett's Chapel

PRICE -- The Carlisle Lady Indians cruised to a 25-23, 25-22, 25-22 sweep of Leverett's Chapel in District 20-2A play Tuesday.

Julie Smith paced Carlisle (22-11, 8-1) with nine kills, one block, 12 digs, and three aces. Madison Martin added nine kills, Hayley Jordan finished with eight kills, Ceci DeLeon dished out 25 assists to go with nine digs, while Haley Fears chipped in with 14 digs.

Carlisle's season resumes Oct. 20 at Gary.
