SULPHUR SPRINGS -- The Sulphur Springs Wildcats remained one game behind first-place Hallsville in the District 15-5A standings with an 8-1 win over Mount Pleasant on Wednesday.

Tyler Follis was sharp on the mound, allowing just a run on three hits with eight strikeouts in six innings, while Ryan Ferguson doubled and drove in two runs to lead the Sulphur Springs (7-2 in 15-5A) offense.

The Wildcats and Mount Pleasant (0-9 in district) are back in action Friday night. Sulphur Springs travels to Greenville, while Mount Pleasant plays host to Hallsville.

 

Lindale Takes Down John Tyler

TYLER -- The Lindale Eagles cruised to a 10-1 win over John Tyler in District 16-5A action Wednesday.

Laettner Greenhill led Lindale by going 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run scored. Ryan Dudley was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, while Kam Neely and Stephen Clemmons picked up two RBIs apeice.

Chase Brown started on the mound and got the win, pitching three hitless innings with four strikeouts and three walks. Cody Rozell, Jase Mauldin, and Greenhill combined to pitch the final four innings of the night.

Lindale hosts Jacksonville, while John Tyler travels to Lufkin on Friday night.

 

Bullard Blanks Gilmer

BULLARD -- The Bullard Panthers recorded an 8-0 shutout of Gilmer on Wednesday in District 16-4A action.

Zach Eschberger dominated on the mound, allowing just three hits with eight strikeouts in a complete-game shutout. Wes Jones collected two hits and had two RBIs to spark Bullard at the plate.

Each team's season continues Friday. Bullard plays at Spring Hill, while Gilmer entertains Chapel Hill.

 

SOFTBALL

No. 11 Carthage Rips Center

CENTER -- The 11th-ranked Carthage Lady Dawgs scored an 8-2 win over Center in District 16-4A action Wednesday.

Samantha Clakley was the star of the night for Carthage (20-2, 6-0). She went seven innings in the circle and struck out 14, allowing just one earned run on four hits. At the plate, she went 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and a walk.

Kaitlynn Earle was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, Morgan Davis went 3-for-5 with an RBI, Ashleigh Edge was 2-for-5 and scored a run, Brianna Gwinn scored three runs, and Kacey Maines doubled and scored a run.

Carthage continues its season Friday at home against Rusk, while Center next plays at Rusk next Thursday.
