Tre Allison has been an SMU commitment for a while now, but the second school to enter the mix since the John Tyler linebacker announced his decision made its move Sunday evening.

Arkansas State joined Allison's portfolio, the junior announced through Twitter, and is the fourth school to be accounted for. Louisiana-Lafayette and Mississippi State are the other interested programs hoping the athlete will back down from his commitment.

Allison (6-0, 200) helped his team to an 11-2 record this past season and reached the Class 6A Division II regional semifinals. He finished with a team-best 118 tackles and two sacks, three interceptions, two forced fumbles and one recovery.

The Red Wolves, who compete in the Sun Belt Conference, reached a sixth consecutive bowl game in 2016 and defeated Central Florida in the finale for a record of 8-5.

Particularly notable for launching the college head coaching careers of Hugh Freeze, Guz Malzahn and Bryan Harsin earlier this decade, Arkansas State expects to enjoy Blake Anderson for a fourth season.

Allison isn't the only local player to have the opportunity to play for the Red Wolves. The program is also currently interested in Lufkin receiver Malik Jackson, Texas High receiver Tevailance Hunt and Tyler Lee quarterback Chance Amie.

Like all college football prospects currently in their junior year of high school, Allison will become eligible to sign with any school that offers him in February.
