Grant Hanks, come on down.

Bullard Brook Hill's senior quarterback threw for 441 yards and six touchdown passes to guide the Guard past Edgewood in its season opener Friday and has been named the ETSN.fm/Dairy Queen Offensive Player of the Week.

Hanks needed to be sharp because Edgewood would not go away in a 49-42 Guard win.

Brook Hill receiver Seth Brasher played a huge role in Hanks' night with four touchdowns and 211 yards on 10 receptions.

Hanks' team notched a nice win last week, but a rough stretch of non-district games against public schools continues. It takes on Class 2A state power Tenaha this week in a meeting of the top two schools in the ETSN.fm Week 2 Class 2A/Private Schools Poll.

Tenaha is the No. 1 ranked team. Brook Hill is No. 2.

The Guard will wrap up games against public school opponents with a road trip to Alto next week. From there, Brook Hill has a seven-game regular season schedule through TAPPS Division II, District II.
