Friday Volleyball: Beckville, Tatum Earn Wins in Pool Play

TATUM -- Tatum escaped Friday evening unscathed.

The Lady Eagles came away with three victories in as many games, taking down Quinlan Ford, Van's junior varsity team and Gladewater at home.

Ashton Brown and Essence Allen combined for 47 kills, 42 assist, and 26 digs as the Lady Eagles improved to 3-0.

Tatum will next face Rains on Aug. 17.

Beckville improves to 5-2

DENTON -- Beckville couldn't quite complete a perfect day, going 2-1 at the Denton Kickoff Classic on Friday.

The Ladycats won their first set 25-22 but lost the next two 25-20 and 25-19 against Denton. They bounced back with sweeps of Woodrow Wilson and Haltom, though.

Miranda Size led the team with 18 kills, while Payton Jones had 13 and Kinsley Rivers 12. Curly Nail led with 16 digs and Kinley Pepper with 45 assists.

The Ladycats are now 5-2 and will next face Lubbock Cooper at 9 a.m. Saturday.
