Texas A&M appears to be re-establishing itself in East Texas, and that trend continued Thursday when Gilmer junior linebacker Josh Walker committed to the Aggies.

Walker, a 6-foot-1, 220-pounder who also plays running back, decided to pull the trigger on a commitment after visiting College Station for this past weekend's Texas A&M vs. LSU game. Walker's commitment was reported by multiple outlets, including Rivals.com, Scout.com, and 247Sports.com, this morning.

"I loved it when I went down for the visit last weekend against LSU," Walker said. "I've always kind of been a fan of A&M growing up, and I'd love to play defense in the SEC."

Despite being only a junior, Walker holds four high-major offers: A&M, Oklahoma, Texas, and Texas Tech.

Walker has 50 tackles, four sacks, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. He's carried the ball 35 times for 241 yards and five touchdowns and caught 11 passes for 136 yards and two scores.

Walker said he's "not sure yet" if this marks the end of his recruitment. With four big offers, the junior will likely see plenty more before the 2014 signing day.

Walker and Gilmer are 6-1 overall and 3-0 in District 16-3A. The Buckeyes host Spring Hill at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

"We're playing all right. We're still not at our best," Walker said. "But we're getting there."
